Altering a database record

To make the analysis results for a record in the database reflect changes to your program preferences, the record's included and excluded time, or the client's date of birth is to re-enter the file in the database with the desired changes and delete the old record from the database.

If you open and make changes to a FILE (stored on your hard disk outside of the database), the changes will NOT be reflected in your database records or database summary measures even if you had previously submitted that file as a database record. Also, if you open a RECORD in the dataabase and change the included time, you will be asked if you wish to save the changes as a file. This is a File not a Record. The changes are not kept in the record and will not affect the daatabase.

The most advisable way to alter a database record is:
  1. If applicable, make and save changes to your program Preferences (e.g. Low or Medium Activity level designations) or the client's date of birth.
  2. Using the "Open Activity Record from Database" option in the Database menu, open the step data record that needs to be changed.
  3. Make any desired changes (e.g. change the days/times included or excluded from analysis).
  4. Save the data to a file on your hard disk using the "Save As...…" command in the File menu.
  5. Delete the record from the database using the "Delete Activity Record from Database" option in the Database menu.
  6. Re-submit the file to the database using the "Add File [file name] to Database" option in the Database menu. To do this, the file you want to add must be in the active window (the one in front) on your screen.
